The documentary explores Great Lakes commercial fisheries, one of the world’s largest freshwater fisheries, yet one that remains largely unknown. Made in partnership with Saugeen First Nation on the Bruce Peninsula, the film follows fishers on Lakes Ontario, Erie, and Huron. It highlights both Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives, examining the challenges and opportunities facing the industry in a changing world. The result is a humorous, informative, and intimate look at the people who bring fresh, local fish to tables across North America.
“As our mission is to create a lasting connection to the Great Lakes, presenting this film felt natural,” says Visitor Experience Manager Claire Notman. “It shares the real stories of those who work on the water and gives audiences insight into where their fish comes from. It’s a very human story.”
