“In the quiet act of facing the mirror, women throughout history have created self-portraits, not simply as a means of recording their image, but as a bold and defiant act of self-reclamation.”
The term, self portrait, traditionally conjures up figurative paintings of the head and shoulders of the artist, or the full figure but we are broadening the term to include all the aspects of an artist’s life, which may reveal something of their character and personality. This promises to be an interesting experience for both participating artists and viewers.
