What's Good in Kingston - United Way KFL&A hosting Period Promise Donation Drive

United Way encourages the community to donate for individuals in need

United Way KFL&A is calling on local residents to support the Period Promise Donation Drive throughout March 2025.

We spoke with the United Way's Kim Hockey, who told us they've been collecting period products since 2020.

The drive aims to help individuals facing period poverty, with one in five people who menstruate likely to experience this hardship this year.

Donations of menstrual hygiene products, including tampons, pads, and liners, will be collected at Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Napanee, Amherstview and Kingston, select Starbucks in Kingston, and the United Way KFL&A office. You can also make a monetary donation online.

Period products are one of the most requested items but one of the least donated.

Locally, products will be distributed to 25 agencies throughout KFL&A including Interval House, Food Banks and Community & Family Services.
