Marlene Spruyt Targets Doug Ford over health care crisis in LFK
Marlene Spruyt has been nominated as the Ontario Greens candidate for Lanark–Frontenac–Kingston. A retired family and public health physician, she says Ontario’s health care crisis is due to Premier Doug Ford’s failure to invest in the system.
Spruyt, who serves as the Ontario Greens’ Health Critic, was the party’s candidate in 2022. She says too many people struggle to find a doctor, especially in rural areas. “Every person in Ontario, regardless of where they live, should have access to quality health care,” she said.
Ontario Greens leader Mike Schreiner praised Spruyt’s experience, saying she will be a strong advocate. “Marlene brings a wealth of first-hand medical experience to the Ontario Greens,” he said.
Spruyt has lived in small rural communities across Ontario. She says she is fighting for a system that takes better care of people.
She will face John Jordan (PC - incumbent), John MacRae (NDP) and Rob Rainer (Liberal) in the election at the end of the month.
