Conservative Majority declared
Doug Ford's Ontario PC Party has won a third straight majority government in Ontario.
Locally, Liberal Party candidate Ted Hsu is headed back to Queen's Park as the MPP for Kingston and the Islands after a victory over PC candidate Ian Chapelle.
Hsu, a former Federal MP from 2011 to 2015 is headed for his second term as MPP for the riding that makes up Kingston south of the 401, and both Howe and Wolfe Islands.
Hsu defeated Conservative Ian Chapelle, who was followed by the NDP's Elliot Ugalde, and the Green's Zachary Typhair.
In 2022, it was the NDP finishing second, by just over 3,000 votes, followed by the Conservatives, then the Greens.
Going into the election the riding was considered likely to be won by Hsu and the Liberal Party which has held the riding for 31 of the past 40 years.
Meanwhile, Ontario PC's John Jordan is heading back to Queen's Park representing Lanark-Frontenac Kingston after a solid win at the polls.
Jordan handily beat his opponents cruising to a second term. Before the election was called, Jordan served as the parliamentary secretary to the minister of agriculture.
Rob Rainer came in a distant second for the Ontario Liberals, while John McRae finished third for the NDP, and the Green Party's Marlene Spruyt finished fourth.
For Rainer and the Liberals, that's an improvement over the 2022 results that saw the party finish third, after the NDP finished in second spot.
