Training exercises are underway in Eastern Ontario

Over the next week, residents of Kingston and other parts of Eastern Ontario can expect to see an increase in military traffic as Canadian Army vehicles conduct convoy operations for Exercise STALWART GUARDIAN. This major annual field exercise will take place at the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford.

It started yesterday and will continue until August 27th.

Hundreds of Canadian Army Infantry and support personnel will be traveling from various locations, including in Kingston using key highways like the 401.

Residents and motorists may notice uniformed soldiers with unloaded weapons, but the Canadian Armed Forces assures the public that no ammunition will be carried during the operations.

This exercise is led by 33 Canadian Brigade Group, headquartered in Ottawa, and includes soldiers from Toronto-based 32 Canadian Brigade Group.
