Keeping a close eye on reportable diseases

KFL&A has you covered

KFL&A Public Health has extensive information on how to report a disease of significance in our city and region.

Health Units play a vital role when it comes to following up with people who have reportable diseases.

Public Health Nurse Vanessa Gill says they keep a close eye on test results.

Gill adds depending on the situation they may need more information, but she assures the public it is never shared. Gill says health units stress confidentiality.

Should a reportable disease, like measles for example, be found public health begins the process of tracing and alerts anyone who may have had contact.
