Kingston addresses community tensions following ICH attack

Work with community partners continues

Kingston city officials are working closely with community partners to address safety concerns surrounding the Integrated Care Hub (ICH) after the tragic events of September 12.

The City has been collaborating with Addictions and Mental Health Services, Kingston Community Health Centres, and Kingston Police to enhance safety measures.

In response to requests from service providers, the City is maintaining the fence around the ICH site as safety improvements are explored.

Over the past week, City staff have helped people retrieve belongings from the area and community outreach teams have offered support.

However, officials have noted an increase in hostility, threats, and inappropriate language directed at City employees. They stress that while different perspectives are welcome, threats and public attacks are unacceptable.

The City remains committed to supporting displaced individuals while prioritizing staff safety and will adjust its approach if necessary. The goal remains a safe, inclusive community for all.
