Kingston leads the way

Microsoft backs massive carbon removal project in our city

One week from today, on Thursday, August 22nd, UNDO Carbon will announce a major deal with Microsoft to spread 25,000 tonnes of finely crushed wollastonite rock over 5,000 hectares of Canadian farmland.

This initiative is the largest of its kind for Microsoft and puts Kingston at the forefront of innovative carbon removal solutions.

UNDO Carbon’s enhanced rock weathering process speeds up natural weathering cycles, making it a quick and scalable carbon removal method. They're located approximately 30 km North of Kingston.

Unlike other techniques, it uses existing processes and provides farming communities with added benefits like improved soil pH, better crop health, and increased pest resistance.

As climate change continues to impact the world, this project showcases positive climate action happening right here in Canada, setting a new standard for environmental innovation.
