Kingston Police nearing full recovery after cyber attack

Police offering tips to keep yourself sale online

Kingston Police say they are close to restoring all services following a recent cyber incident. Investigators, along with partner agencies, continue to assess the breach.

Officials are holding meetings in the coming weeks to fully reconnect services between agencies. The Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario is receiving regular updates.

Residents are urged to stay cyber-safe by using the Canadian Government’s Get Cyber Safe Checkup at www.getcybersafe.ca. Experts warn that phishing scams remain a top threat.

Red flags in phishing emails include urgent language, requests for sensitive information, and suspicious attachments. Kingston Police advise against clicking unknown links, opening attachments, or replying to unexpected emails. Instead, delete them or verify the sender through another method.

With IT teams and external experts working together, Kingston Police expect full service restoration soon and thank the public for their patience.
