Kingston students compete for cash in Mayor’s Innovation Challenge

Students are set to showcase big ideas at City Hall

Kingston students are set to showcase big ideas at City Hall tomorrow for the 8th annual Mayor’s Innovation Challenge Pitch Competition.

The event starts at 9 a.m. and features students from Kingston’s post-secondary schools pitching projects to improve the city. Residents can watch in person at City Hall or tune in via the city’s YouTube channel.

Participants have created two-to-three-minute video proposals focusing on enhancing quality of life, leveraging emerging technologies, or improving municipal services. A share of $5,000 in seed funding is up for grabs to help bring their ideas to life.

The competition, which encourages young innovators to think big, has led to real community improvements in past years.

For those interested in seeing the next generation of problem-solvers in action, the live stream can be found at Kingston City Council’s YouTube channel. (https://www.youtube.com/@KingstonCityCouncil)
