Some long-time Greenwood Medical Clinic Patients scramble

Doctor's retirement means some will be without primary care

Greenwood Medical Clinic's recent announcement to take on 1,000 new patients in Kingston was initially celebrated, but it has left some long-time patients in a difficult spot.

While the clinic, also known as the East End Health Hub, had plans to roster 600 new patients starting August 17, not all current patients are thrilled.

On August 16, patients of Dr. Thomas Curry received notice that he would be closing his practice in four months, leaving many without a doctor.

With a new geographic catchment area in place, some of Dr. Curry’s patients, particularly those outside the area, were not offered spots at the clinic.

This situation has caused frustration among patients who now have just a few months to find new primary care.

The timing has sparked concern, as Greenwood Medical Clinic recently received city funds to bring new patients on board.
