Becomes first US President since Grover Cleveland to win non-consecutive terms

Donald Trump is set to return to the White House after winning 276 Electoral College votes in Tuesday’s election.

The former president, who faced two impeachments and a recent criminal conviction, will become only the second U.S. president to win two nonconsecutive terms.

In a speech before the race was officially called, Trump promised a “golden age of America,” highlighting the economy and immigration as his main priorities. He also celebrated Republicans' projected control of the Senate.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who won 223 Electoral College votes, is expected to speak later today. Her campaign team has asked for time and space to reflect on the outcome.

Canadian leaders are anticipated to share their reactions later on Wednesday.
