Hits a historic milestone for the first time ever
The annual United Way campaign has surpassed the 2024 campaign goal.
United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington announced Thursday morning that the annual campaign has raised a historic $4,050,000 surpassing the goal of $3,950,000 million and crossing the $4 million mark for the first time.
KingstonDaily.ca spoke with United Way KFL&A President & CEO John DiPaolo, who said it was thrilling to see that big of a number.
Joanne Langlois, Chair of the 2024 Campaign, shared she had the time of her life during this campaign, noting it was rewarding, entertaining, hard work, fun and inspiring.
One of the big events that took place this fall was the fundraising screenings of the Tragically Hip documentary that raised $80,000 for the campaign. Langlois said it was very generous for her husband and his bandmates to step up and support the community.
Now that the campaign has come to a close, Langlois says she's feeling good, albeit a little tired from all that hard work.
The funds raised through the 2024 campaign will be distributed to local agencies immediately and volunteers have been hard at work on the allocation process.
This year, the funds will need to go further as United Way KFL&A partners with local groups to address urgent needs. Volunteers are prioritizing programs that focus on key issues in the community, like access to food, mental health and addiction support, and homelessness.
