Three young adults killed in May long-weekend crash
Matthew Splinter, 44, has been released on bail after spending a month in custody following a deadly boating collision on Bobs Lake.
Splinter was arrested on Oct. 29 after a five-month OPP investigation into the May 18 crash. The collision, involving a speedboat striking a fishing boat, claimed the lives of Riley Orr, Juliette Cote, and Kaila Bearman, all in their early 20s, and injured five others.
Facing 12 charges, including dangerous and impaired operation causing death and bodily harm, Splinter secured bail with a $75,000 surety from his brother and $10,000 from his girlfriend.
A nine-hour hearing resulted in strict conditions, including house arrest, restricted conveyance use, and a non-communication order against 116 individuals.
Court proceedings remain under a publication ban as the case moves toward trial. The tragedy has left a lasting impact on the Bobs Lake community.
