What's Good in Kingston: Thousands flood for summer Princess Street Promenade

Downtown Kingston was packed with people on Saturday.

Thousands came out to enjoy the second Princess Street Promenade of the summer.

The all-day event turned the city’s main street into a car-free zone filled with vendors, music, games, food, and fun.

This edition of the Promenade included a special Emancipation Day celebration in partnership with the Black Block Party. Visitors enjoyed interactive art by local Black artists, and food from Black-owned businesses.

One of the highlights was Trailhead’s 30th anniversary climbing wall, set up right on the street. Families, tourists, and residents lined up to give it a try.

Staff member at the Rocking Horse Toystore downtown describes how events like these can help local businesses grow.

Local owner of CLR Design says that the people is what makes the Promenade so great.

Over at the Rocking Horse Toy Store, staff say one of the best parts of the job is seeing kids light up when they explore the toys.

The final Princess Street Promenade of the year is on September 13th, don't miss out!
