Allan Scott has spent a lifetime in public service, and retirement has only expanded his commitment to the Kingston community. A retired Ontario Public Service executive, Scott began his career as a police officer in Toronto before moving into senior public service leadership roles. He now lives in Kingston with his wife, where his family continues a tradition of service through his son’s role at CFB Kingston.
Scott remains actively involved as a volunteer with Providence Care Hospital, supporting the organization’s work in health care and community well-being. He also contributes his experience and expertise at the municipal level, serving on a City of Kingston working group appointed by council to review and recommend changes to compensation, benefits, and resources for elected officials.
In addition, Scott serves as Chair of the City’s Hearing Officer Tribunal, which hears appeals related to administrative monetary penalties, and as a council-appointed Fence Viewer, adjudicating disputes between property owners. His volunteer leadership extends into the non-profit and faith communities as a Director with Applaud, an organization recognizing public servants, and as a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral’s Finance and Property Committee.
Through each role, Allan Scott continues to strengthen civic life in Kingston through service, fairness, and community engagement.
Allan Scott spoke with Alyssa Brush about his volunteer work and ongoing role in public service.
