What's Good in Kingston: Judgement of Kingston

Kingston’s premier wine showdown celebrates 10 years of taste, talent and giving back.

The Judgement of Kingston is raising a glass to its 10th anniversary on November 15, marking a decade of celebrating world-class wines and supporting local causes.

Run entirely by volunteers, the annual event has already raised more than $55,000 for regional charities while promoting Kingston’s growing reputation as a culinary tourism destination.

Organizer and co-founder Lubomyr Luciuk says he’s pleasantly surprised by how much the Judgement of Kingston has been able to raise for local charities over the years.

Each year, the Judgement of Kingston features a blind tasting and judged comparison of wines from Prince Edward County and other renowned wine regions, including California, Burgundy, Oregon, Niagara, and British Columbia. The event showcases the rising quality and sophistication of Canadian wines on an international stage.

Luciuk says the event offers more than wine tasting.

Organizers say this milestone year is both a celebration of local winemakers and a toast to the community’s generosity.

Luciuk says that the 10 years have flown by.
