Organizers say they are already looking forward to what surprises and immersive experiences they'll have next summer.
The 11th season of the Kick & Push Festival wrapped up this summer, offering one-of-a-kind, immersive theatre experiences across Kingston. Audiences took their seats at the Grand Theatre, in parks, online, at homes, enjoying innovative performances by Canadian and international artists.
Established in 2015, the festival features the mainstage and Fringe Festival, highlighting local theatre alongside award-winning national artists. Its unusual name honors Kingston’s historic Kingston and Pembroke Railway, or “Kick & Push,” which connected communities and inspired the festival’s mission to bring people together.
The Kick & Push Festival is produced by the Kingston Theatre Alliance, with the Fringe Festival produced by Theatre Kingston.
So what does it take to surprise and delight audiences in unexpected ways? We spoke with Erin, founder of Robots Mission and Robot in the Park.
We also spoke with performer Dana about her perspective at the TK Fringe part of the festival. The show she performed was, "Shakespeare: Say it!"
And finally, community outreach coordinator Alexandria explained how other artists can get involved in future festivals.
As the curtain falls on this year’s festival, organizers are already looking forward to what surprises and immersive experiences next summer will bring.
