Dedicated to building a compassionate community where the well-being of animals is valued and respected.
The Kingston Humane Society has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of cats and dogs for over 140 years.
They serve a wide area of almost 7,000 square kilometres as Executive Director Gord Hunter explains.
Gord notes their facility on Binnington Court in Kingston is almost always over capacity bringing the need for an army of on-site staff, volunteers, and foster homes to help them in their mission to advocate for and improve the lives of animals within our community .
Volunteers can help with dog-walking and cat-cuddling at the facility as well as providing temporary homes for those awaiting adoption. The Society receives no direct government funding and relies heavily on donations from the public.
Gord's wish for the New Year is for all pet owners to consider spaying or neutering their furry companions.
