The Kingston Citadel will be collecting toys, food, and cash throughout the holiday season.
The Salvation Army Kingston Citadel have unveiled their plans for their annual Christmas campaign.
The campaign officially kicked off on Nov. 1 and there will be a number of community events taking place in and around the city.
Campaign coordinator April-Dawn Drobig says they were quite busy last year and expects this holiday season will just a bustling.
People will be able to donate new, unwrapped toys for children and non-perishable food items for families.
The Salvation Army has set up drop-off collection sites throughout Kingston including TD Bank branches, Sonny's Automotive, and the Cataraqui Centre.
Drobig says people can also donate toys at the Kingston Santa Claus Parade on Nov. 22.
The Salvation Army is also taking part in the City of Kingston's Toys for Tickets drive where people who receive parking tickets can donate a new unwrapped toy in lieu of the fine. There is also a Teddy Bear Toss at the Dec. 5 Kingston Frontenacs game at Slush Puppie Place.
There are two events taking place where the Salvation Army volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items. One is happening on the 17th at the Metro store on Barrie St., the other is on the 22nd at No Frills on Division St..
Drobig says there is a lot of work that goes into organizing these events and is grateful to those who give some of their time to help out.
In addition to the drives, the world-famous Christmas kettles will once again grace grocery stores and shopping centres in Kingston this year collecting monetary donations.
