The 45th annual event takes place this Sunday at Lake Ontario Park.
Communities across Canada are taking part in the annual Terry Fox Run.
The 45th annual event goes Sunday Sept. 14. It serves as a fundraiser for the Terry Fox Foundation for cancer research.
Kingston's Terry Fox Run is taking place at Lake Ontario Park.
Local organizer Kristy Murphy says everyone is welcome to participate.
Last year's event in Kingston raised $45,000. Over $24 million was raised across Canada in 2024.
Murphy says the foundation takes all the money raised then distributes it to organizations who apply.
She says some of that money went to a cancer research centre in Kingston.
Many of the participants were not around when Terry Fox was doing his cross-Canada Marathon of Hope in 1980.
Murphy believes people continue to connect with him 44 years after he died.
