
This year also marks the 200th anniversary of the Kingston and District Agricultural Society.
One of Kingston's oldest events is beginning its 193rd edition this weekend.
The Kingston Fall Fair starts Thursday and goes until Sunday at the Memorial Centre grounds.
It is being run by the Kingston and District Agricultural Society which is celebrating its 200th birthday this year.
President Yvonne Compton says there are not many institutions that have lasted this long.
There will be the usual attractions such as a petting zoo, midway rides, food and entertainment.
Compton says the farm animals is very popular with the small children.
For older teens and university students, Compton says the midway is where they like to be.
The fair is also where people can enjoy a variety of food.
Compton says there is something about the food that brings people over.
Admission to the fair is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 17, and children under 6 is free.
Compton says for the first time in the history of the fair, they will be accepting debit and credit cards as well as cash.
