What's good with the Frontenacs: Kingston sweeps the road — and one quiet stat may matter most

The Kingston Frontenacs could not have asked for much more from a demanding three-game road trip.

Kingston swept all three games in three nights, beating Barrie 7-4 Thursday, Brampton 4-2 Friday and Brantford 4-2 Saturday.

The trip showed several sides of the Frontenacs. The offence continued to produce, while the goaltending and defensive play took a step forward after some uneven results earlier in the season.

Andre Mondoux had two goals and an assist in Barrie, while Ty Robar added a goal and an assist. In Brampton, Aleks Kulemin had a goal and an assist and Nolan Snyder picked up two helpers as Kingston found different ways to win on consecutive nights.

Royden Smith got the start Friday against Brampton.

The biggest individual performance belonged to Alex Misiak.

Misiak scored four times against Barrie, then kept producing through the weekend. He finished the trip with eight points in three games and was named OHL Player of the Week.

His four-goal night was the first by a Frontenacs player since March 23, 2025.

Jack Clark says there were stretches Thursday when Misiak looked capable of creating something every time he touched the puck.

Tomas Pobezal also had a strong Saturday in Brantford, scoring twice and adding an assist. Matthew Minchak made 24 saves in the victory as Kingston earned some redemption against a Bulldogs team that had beaten the Frontenacs earlier this season.

Ten games into the season, Kingston sits third in the Eastern Conference with a 6-4 record.

The Frontenacs have scored 45 goals and allowed 45, making their early-season identity easy to spot: they can score, but keeping the puck out of their own net remains a work in progress.

One statistic may be helping that process.

Kingston had just 79 penalty minutes through 10 games, the second-lowest total in the Eastern Conference. The Frontenacs did not take a single penalty Friday against Brampton.

Clark says that kind of discipline can make life much easier for the players behind the puck.

The numbers suggest Kingston is beginning to find some balance. The offence remains dangerous, Misiak is among the league’s hottest players, and the defensive side showed improvement throughout the road trip.

That combination helped turn a difficult three-game stretch into six valuable points.
