A 31-year-old Napanee woman is facing 14 criminal charges after an attempted abduction during a youth soccer game in Greater Napanee.
The incident happened on Wednesday at Kinsmen Field on Raglan Street.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, a woman smashed a vehicle window, threatened bystanders, and tried to abduct a 12-year-old child.
A parent quickly stepped in, safely removing the child from the situation before the suspect fled on foot.
Police located and arrested the woman nearby.
She is charged with abduction of a person under 14, uttering threats to cause death, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of mischief, and eight counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused, who is known to police, was held in custody and appeared in court in Greater Napanee on Thursday for a bail hearing.
