The 10-year agreement includes a $250,000 contribution to support the W.J. Henderson Recreation Centre Renewal Project.
Loyalist Township Council has approved a naming rights agreement with Barr Homes, officially naming the Aquatic Centre at the W.J. Henderson Community Centre the Barr Homes Aquatic Centre. The 10-year agreement includes a $250,000 contribution to support the W.J. Henderson Recreation Centre Renewal Project.
The revitalization project, which began in March 2024 and is expected to finish in the third quarter of 2026, is part of the Township’s long-term recreation strategy. Upgrades will include a new 8-lane, 25-metre pool, a warm-water leisure pool, arena improvements, enhanced accessibility, green energy features, and an Indigenous Legacy Space in partnership with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund.
Barr Homes, an Eastern Ontario home builder with more than 70 years in the Kingston area, has built around 60 homes annually. Mayor Jim Hegadorn said the contribution will help modernize the facility while preserving its legacy as a community hub. The W.J. Henderson Revitalization Campaign aims to raise $2 million through donations and partnerships.
