Charges laid in May 30 attack
An inmate at Bath Institution in Kingston is facing several charges following a serious assault incident.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad was alerted on May 30, 2024, after an inmate reported being sexually assaulted the previous evening.
An investigation led to the arrest of 52 year-old Kirk Williams on August 12, 2024. He has been charged under the Criminal Code with sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Correctional Service of Canada.
Williams is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on September 19, 2024.
The charges highlight ongoing issues of violence within correctional facilities and the commitment of law enforcement to addressing such incidents.
