Local group says new volunteers can help provide outdoor experiences, leadership skills and more for youth.
The 1st Bayridge Scout Group is looking for volunteers to help keep its programs running for local youth.
Group Commissioner Ben Clock says the organization is seeking people interested in working with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, as well as volunteers for administrative, fundraising, communications and maintenance roles.
The group’s programs are run entirely by volunteers, with opportunities for people who enjoy the outdoors, want to learn new skills or want to spend time with their children.
Volunteers can receive training in areas including youth development, program planning, leadership and risk management. Other opportunities can help build skills in communications, fundraising and financial management. Clock says that scouting has changed over the years.
The group says volunteers who can commit about 12 to 14 hours a month can make a difference in the lives of local youth.
Prospective volunteers must complete an interview, provide references and undergo a police record check with vulnerable sector screening.
