It’s a universal type, vital in emergencies!
Canadian Blood Services is putting out an urgent call for O negative blood donors this summer.
We spoke with Debbi Barfoot, Community Development Manager, who explain why O-negative is most needed.
The national supply is stable for now, but they carefully track blood inventory levels across Canada. When certain blood types fall below target, donors are asked to step up.
Only seven per cent of Canadians have O negative blood, making each donation vital.
Not sure of your blood type? Barfoot says you can book an appointment to give and find out!
Locally, you can donate at the Kingston clinic, which is open four days a week. Appointments can be made through the GiveBlood app or at blood.ca.
Canadian Blood Services reminds people that summer donations are critical, and every donor helps save lives across the country.
