Free prenatal program helps expecting parents across Eastern Ontario prepare from home

Program covers a wide array of topics for new parents

Expecting parents in Eastern Ontario can now prepare for childbirth and parenting from the comfort of home thanks to Bump to Baby, a free online program offered by the South East Health Unit (SEHU).

The program teaches essential information about pregnancy, labour, delivery, and newborn care. Families can access the course anytime, anywhere, making it easier for those who can't attend in-person classes.

In 2024, over 1,000 families across the region used the public health unit’s online prenatal programs. Bump to Baby includes fun videos, 3D animations, quizzes, and helpful links. The course is divided into three main sections: Pregnancy, Labour and Delivery, and Life with Your New Baby.

It covers topics like nutrition, pain management, postpartum recovery, and breastfeeding.

Health professionals regularly update the content, and participants say it helps them feel more confident and prepared.

The course is free, and registration details are available on the health unit websites.
