2025 season begins this Saturday at home to Western.
The Queen's Gaels football team are geared up for the upcoming Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season.
They begin the 2025 campaign at home this Saturday against the Western Mustangs.
Head coach Steve Snyder says they had a great off-season and the players are chomping at the bit to hit the gridiron.
The Gaels finished the 2024 season with a 5-3 regular-season record losing to OUA MVP Taylor Elgersma and the Laurier Golden Hawks in the Yates Cup semifinals.
Synder says this year's squad will have a mix of returning players and newcomers that will hopefully make them a tough team for opponents to play against.
One of the returning players is linebacker Justin Pace.
He recorded 51 tackles, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries last season.
The Montreal native says he and the rest of the team can't wait to take to the field at Richardson Stadium.
Pace is entering his fourth year with the Gaels and says he is confident about the expectations for his team.
With the school year still more than a week away, Snyder is hoping others in the community can help fill the stadium and cheer on the team.
Saturday's game at Richardson Stadium starts at 3 pm.
