Temperatures will reach 33°C with humidex values up to 40
A multi-day heat warning is in effect starting Saturday for Kingston, Odessa, and Frontenac Islands. Daytime highs are expected to reach 30 to 33 degrees Celsius, with humidex values up to 40. Overnight lows will stay between 19 and 23 degrees.
The heat will ease by midweek, but residents should take precautions now. Heat can affect anyone’s health, especially older adults and those living alone. Watch for heat exhaustion signs like headache, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. If symptoms worsen to heat stroke — such as hot, red skin, confusion, or loss of consciousness — call 9-1-1 immediately.
Stay hydrated by drinking water often, keep blinds closed during the day, and use fans or air conditioning. Avoid outdoor activities during peak heat, wear light clothing and hats, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
Follow local public health advice to stay safe during this extreme heat event.
