Here’s what’s open and closed in Kingston this Easter weekend

What is happening on Friday and Monday?

As Easter weekend arrives, Kingston residents are reminded of schedule changes for city services, shopping and transit.

Government offices at all levels are closed on Good Friday, April 18, and Easter Monday, April 21. The same goes for LCBO and Beer Store locations, which will also close on Sunday. However, alcohol is still available at convenience stores.

There will be no garbage, recycling or green bin collection on Friday or Monday. Friday’s pickup moves to Saturday, and Monday’s collection will take place on Tuesday, with all other collections pushed ahead by a day.

The Kingston Area Recycling Centre will be closed Friday and Monday but open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kingston Transit will not run on Friday. Regular service returns Saturday, including Route 60 via the Waaban Crossing. Sunday and Monday will also follow the usual schedule. Kingston Access Services (KAS) will have no on-road service Friday and limited service Monday.

Recreation facilities and the public library will be closed Friday and Monday but open on the weekend. Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro are closed on Friday and Monday, though emergency service is available by calling 613-546-1181.

Most major stores, including Walmart, Costco, Loblaws, No Frills, Metro, and Food Basics, will be closed Friday and Sunday. Shoppers Drug Mart locations will stay open, though hours may vary. The Foodland in Amherstview is open both Friday and Sunday.

Downtown businesses may stay open but operate on their own schedules.
