Hyundai donates $150K to Kingston hospital to support kids fighting cancer

The money will fund critical care, equipment, research, and support services for families navigating paediatric cancer at KHSC.

Hyundai Canada and four southeastern Ontario dealerships have donated $150,000 to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation to support children undergoing cancer treatment at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.

The gift includes $100,000 from Hyundai Hope on Wheels and $50,000 combined from dealerships in Kingston, Belleville, Smiths Falls, Seaway and Brockville. The donation was marked Oct. 3 with Hyundai’s signature Handprint Ceremony, where young patients placed painted handprints on a white vehicle to symbolize courage and hope.

The money will fund critical care, equipment, research, and support services for families navigating paediatric cancer. KHSC’s oncology program treats 15 to 20 new or relapsed diagnoses each year, alongside hundreds of ongoing patients.

UHKF president Tamás Zsolnay called the donation an extraordinary investment that will provide comfort and advanced care. Hyundai says the initiative is part of a larger $4 million national commitment to help children with cancer across Canada.
