Kingston and Ottawa team up to boost affordable housing with new Bath Road project

The new building will have 53 one-bedroom and 56 two-bedroom units, with bike parking, car-share spaces, and direct access to public transit.

A new 10-storey apartment building at 1752 Bath Road will soon add 109 rental units to Kingston’s housing supply, with nearly one-quarter designated as affordable housing.

The project, led by Martin Group of Companies, is being supported by $1.4 million from the City of Kingston and $1 million through the federal Housing Accelerator Fund. The Government of Canada is also providing more than $36 million in financing through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s Apartment Construction Loan Program.

Featuring 53 one-bedroom and 56 two-bedroom units, the building will include bike parking, car-share spaces, and direct access to public transit.

City officials say the investment will help meet local housing needs while promoting sustainable transportation options.

The development represents an important partnership between the City, the federal government, and the private sector to expand affordable housing and support a growing community. Construction is currently underway on the Bath Road site.
