Kingston Councillor Lisa Osanic put forth a motion speaking against the environmental impacts Bill 5 would have if the province passes it during the third reading.
The bill's intent is to allow developers more leeway to build homes through what the province calls "special economic zones."
The bill would repeal the Endangered Species Act, a decision that's drawn the ire of advocates.
It even goes further than that, Osanic explained.
The new proposed language replacing the ESA is not good enough Osanic said.
City council unanimously opposed the environmental harm the bill could cause and urged the province to build homes in a greener way.
