Over $131,000 was raised for Ronald McDonald Houses in Toronto and Ottawa, and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
Plenty of Big Macs and fries were sold during McHappy Day in Kingston.
The restaurants in Kingston, Belleville, Gananoque, and Napanee, operated by Todd Shea, raised over $131,000.
A portion of the money raised is going to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, the rest will go to Ronald McDonald Houses in Toronto and Ottawa.
Shea says it was a very successful day for his stores and appreciates the support from the community.
The $131,000 raised puts the restaurants in 8th place out of all the McDonald's in Canada.
Shea says being in the top 10 was one of goals they were hoping to reach this year.
Members of the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, the Kingston Frontenacs, the Belleville Senators, as well as staff at 98.3 FLY FM, New Country 98.9, and 102.7 WOW FM assisted McDonald's staff on McHappy Day.
Shea says it is that kind of support that makes both he and his staff look forward to McHappy Day each year.
In a news release, the local McDonald's restaurants raised over $27,000 for Ronald McDonald House through a coupon book program earlier this year.
