A woman is facing second-degree murder charges in the death of a newborn.
Kingston Police Major Crimes Unit were investigating a suspicious death at a home on Albany Drive last Sunday.
The investigation led to the arrest of 22-year-old Thi My Nguyen on Thursday. She was initially charged with interfering with a dead body.
A further investigation, that included assistance from the Patrol Division, Forensic Identification Section, as well as the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, led to charges being upgraded.
Nguyen remains in custody and investigators say there is no threat to public safety. No other details about the investigation has been released.
