Investigators say a vehicle was seen colliding with another vehicle then sped away nearly hitting a child.
It is safe to say that one driver won't be behind the wheel of a vehicle anytime soon.
Kingston Police received several calls about a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Cataraqui Woods Drive and Bayridge Drive Thursday morning.
Investigators say callers reported that the vehicle struck another vehicle at a gas station, then sped away driving into on-coming traffic, running through red lights, and nearly hitting a child at a crosswalk.
Officers managed to locate the vehicle at around 9 am and made a traffic stop in the Princess Street-Midland Avenue area.
It was determined that the driver showed signs of impairment by drugs.
Police also found a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
The 33-year-old from Kingston was arrested and faces a number of charges including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and leaving the scene of a crash.
They say the driver remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Investigators are asking for anyone who may have dash cam or surveillance footage to contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660, ext. 0.
