Police used Garage 529 bike registry program to confirm bike was stolen
A man is facing multiple charges after Kingston Police say officers on proactive patrol recovered a stolen high-end bike and uncovered drugs and break-in tools.
According to Kingston Police, officers with the C.O.R.E. Unit spotted the man around 7:00 p.m. near Bath Road and Palace Road. Using the ‘Garage 529’ bike registry program, officers confirmed the bicycle had been reported stolen a day earlier.
The 27-year-old was arrested at the scene for possession of stolen property. A search turned up crystal methamphetamine, bear spray, and tools police say could be used in break and enters — including a grinder with extra wheels, a pry bar, and bolt cutters.
Kingston Police say the individual is now facing several charges, including drug possession, possession of break-in tools, and breaching probation orders linked to previous storage unit break-ins.
The accused was held for a bail hearing. The stolen bike was returned to its owner.
