Kingston police seek suspects after clever cash scam at local hardware store

Investigators say the suspect paid with cash and managed to shortchange the business through a deceptive payment technique.

Kingston Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two people accused of using a sleight-of-hand trick to commit fraud at a local hardware store.

Investigators say the incident happened on November 1, 2025, when the suspects paid with cash and managed to shortchange the business through a deceptive payment technique. The pair left the store before the fraud was discovered.

Police are now working to identify the individuals involved and are urging anyone who recognizes them to come forward.
