City says new routes and schedules aim to boost reliability this winter.
Kingston Transit will introduce several route and schedule changes on Jan. 5, 2026, in an effort to deliver more consistent and reliable service across the city. The updates follow adjustments made in October to improve travel times during construction.
Transportation Commissioner Ian Semple says the latest refinements are meant to ensure predictable service through the winter and build on improvements introduced earlier in 2025. The City says the changes will maintain service coverage while increasing frequency on key express routes during peak periods.
Under the new plan, Express 501/502 buses will run every 12 minutes during weekday rush hours and every 15 minutes midday. Express 701/702 will offer 15-minute service during peak periods. Routes 1, 2, 11, 13, 14 and 31/32 will remain at current levels, while routing changes made in October will continue into 2026.
Route 16A/16B will end Dec. 19 and be combined with Route 16.
