Welcome home H’art Centre!
H’art Centre is finally getting a permanent home after 27 years in temporary spaces. The Kingston-based creative hub supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through arts programs.
Currently located at 237 Wellington St. inside the Goodlife Fitness building, H’art Centre will move this June to the historic Motherhouse at 1200 Princess St., part of the Providence Village property.
The 80,000-square-foot building is being transformed into a space for several community organizations. The Arthritis Society of Canada will also move into the building by the end of April.
A big part of H’art Centre’s move is being made possible by a generous donation from Queen’s University’s Vogue Charity Fashion Show. The student-run group raised $82,500 in March to help make the new space more accessible.
H’art Centre participants were also featured in the fundraiser, showing off their own fashion designs in a short film during the show.
