Garbage delayed, transit reduced, and most municipal offices closed for the holiday.
The City of Kingston is reminding residents of holiday closures and schedule changes for Labour Day on Monday, Sept. 1.
Most municipal offices, banks, post offices, and government services will be closed, along with Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro. Utility emergencies can still be reported 24/7 by calling 613-546-1181.
There will be no garbage or green bin collection on the holiday. Pick-up will be delayed by one day, and the Kingston Area Recycling Centre will be closed.
Kingston Transit will run on a Sunday schedule, while Kingston Access Services will provide limited service from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (by reservation only).
Many recreational and cultural facilities will be closed, including the INVISTA Centre, Artillery Park Aquatic Centre, Rideau Heights and Kingston East community centres, the Kingston Grand Theatre, PumpHouse Museum, Tett Centre, and all Kingston Frontenac Public Library branches. Confederation Basin Marina’s office and laundry facilities will also be closed.
LCBO locations will be closed, while Beer Stores will remain open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Culligan Water Park and Portsmouth Olympic Harbour will both be open.
Residents are encouraged to use online resources for digital services, schedule updates, and holiday information.
