The incident early Saturday morning began over a cigarette.
A nicotine-depraved individual is facing assault and mischief charges.
Kingston Police were called to a business on Princess St. east of Division St. early Sunday morning.
Investigators says a person approached two employees who were about to close up the store for the night around 3:30 am.
They say the individual asked for a cigarette from the employees but they didn't have one.
Investigators say that was when the person went on to assault one of the staff, then left the store threatening to return.
They say the person came back shortly with a crowbar and proceeded to smash the windows and front door.
Officers arrived and quickly put the 35-year-old from Bath under arrest.
