Crews needed 8 hours to contain a blaze in South Frontenac on Sunday.
The hot, dry weather and lack of rainfall is not making life easy for South Frontenac firefighters.
Fire and rescue attended a wild fire in the 1000 block of Rutledge Rd. on Sunday.
Fire Chief Del Blakney tells Reid and Ben of 98.3 FLY-FM the fire was started by a malfunctioning farm equipment and quickly spread.
Wild fires have been occurring across the province and the country.
Blakney says there have been a number of calls to South Frontenac and other municipal fire departments in the last few weeks.
Blakney says the fire on Sunday took almost eight hours to get it fully extinguished.
He says there were no injuries but a couple of firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.
Blakney says crews will be checking back to see if there are any hot spots that could spark another fire.
There is currently a total burn ban in South Frontenac. Kingston, Greater Napanee, Deseronto, also have burn bans in place.
Blakney says there are a number of factors that determine how high a risk of fire is to a community.
Blakney says everyone should be obeying the rules and doing their part to prevents fires from happening.
