The clinic serves as a training ground where students get to work alongside professionals.
Before doctors can treat patients with mental illness, they need to be trained in what to look for.
Queen's University Psychology Clinic has served as a training ground for students looking to get into clinical psychology.
Clinic Director Sheelagh Jamieson says they have both graduate and undergraduate students working alongside professionals to who help them in their development.
Jamieson says many clinics and organizations that help people dealing with mental health are in need of clinical psychologists.
She says they have been trying to get psychologists trained as quickly as they can.
Jamieson says patients who come to the Psychology Clinic have a variety of issues and they are capable of treating most of them.
She says they also provide services in an environment that patients would find more comfortable being in.
The Psychology Clinic is located at 184 Barrie Street in Kingston.
They can be reached by email at: psycclin@queensu.ca or by calling 613-533-6021.
