A new pump track in Amherstview will officially open Wednesday as Brookland Homes and Loyalist Township celebrate the completion of the outdoor recreation project.
The Brookland Homes Pump Track at Loyalist Park, 133 Pratt Drive, will open with a ceremony at 6 p.m. Aug. 19. The event will include a ribbon cutting, speeches and a BMX demonstration from BMXTraining613.
Children of all skill levels will be invited to try the new track. Free activities will also include face painting, lawn games and hot dogs from the Amherstview Lions Club.
The pump track was fully funded through a donation from Brookland Homes owners John and Janice Armitage.
The project is part of the couple’s ongoing support for recreation in Loyalist Township. A future skate park has also been designed for the site, although construction will depend on funding.
The opening will be followed by the final TuNes Day in the Township concert of the summer, featuring Brass Over Tea Kettle at 6:30 p.m.
