No foul play is suspected in the death.
Human remains discovered on an island in the St. Lawrence River near the Town of Gananoque have been identified as a local man who was reported missing earlier this year.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers from the Leeds County Detachment responded to the scene on Monday, May 19th, after a person reported finding remains on the island. The Leeds County OPP Crime Unit launched an investigation and has confirmed that no foul play is suspected in the death.
The deceased has been identified as a 68-year-old man from the area. Police say his name will not be released out of respect for the privacy of the family.
