OPP say one person is unaccounted for but investigators don't believe the individual is missing.
Emergency crews are investigating a house fire south of Odessa in Loyalist Township that has left one person unaccounted for.
The fire broke out Thursday night shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Millhaven Road near Caton Road. Members of the Lennox and Addington County Ontario Provincial Police, Loyalist Township Firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene.
The home was fully engulfed in flames, and firefighters remained on site overnight. The Office of the Fire Marshal is now investigating the cause of the blaze.
In an email to KingstonDaily.ca, the OPP’s Bill Dickson shared they “believe the person is unaccounted for but may not actually be missing.”
Millhaven Road was closed between Wing Road and Caton Road while emergency services respond and investigate the scene. Officials say the closure is necessary to ensure public safety and allow firefighters to work without obstruction.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the fire to contact the Lennox and Addington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122, referencing incident E260128833. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
